SPLENDOUR ’16

Finally we can call Splendour the “green carpet” (ok, gravel carpet) much like we do our US counterparts. Year on year, Splendour is mostly a bit of a mud fest giving its name Splendour in the Grass a little bit to live up to (although it is super fun either way and we love to chuck on our Hunters), but finally we got a Splendour with a lot of sun and unseasonable warmth (one day was 26 degrees…).

Normally we can pinpoint the fashion, what’s on trend, what everyone is doing – but this year it was was a real melting pot of style. Which we loved. No one followed trends really, people were just getting their babe on!! We noticed a lot of slips, lingerie and lace, a lot of sparkles and everyone getting creative with makeup and Glo Tatts, heaps of vintage, a definite lack of denim which was a refreshing change – generally people just had fun and expressed themselves.  Sometimes people bag on festival fashion, but what is wrong with having fun being another character for three days? If you never get to do it, why not live a little sometimes? We love seeing people get creative. If everyone dressed like they do in the city ALL THE TIME… well kill me now!

We bumped into some of our festival junkies and style queens, Annalise McLachlan (Spelly always mutters in awe, “she’s an artist!!”, Ingrid Williams (never, EVER, gets it wrong), Anita Ghise (we HEART your style babe!) and of course Isabella herself who went all out in their festival creativity, which is everything it is meant to be!
